The Business



Fantastic
If you're looking for low-brow, on-point humor about the Hollywood scene, this is just about the best you'll find. The Business starts with a great premise- a porn producer trying to go legitimate who converts to Judaism (adding a -stein to his last name) in his effort to produce a real independent film. Throw in hilarious characters (the crazy Japanese investor is the best of these) and you've got a great show- worth watching!

Often witty and funny look at the movie making biz
Airing on IFC, The Business is an often witty and funny look at the movie making business; revolving around distributer and new Jew convert Vic Morgenstein (Rob deLeeuw) who is looking to shed his image of producing softcore smut. He brings in producer Julia Sullivan (co-executive producer and all around hottie Kathleen Robertson) to help gain him a more respectable reputation, which leads to the making of a movie from an eccentric indie darling director (Nicolas Wright). Adding to the ensuing chaotic hilarity is Vic's crazy Japanese investor (Nobuya Shimamoto), his whacked out PR guy (Trevor Hayes), and the former adult film star (Karen Cliche) up for the lead role. While yes, The Business is far from being a sophisticated or intellectual comedy, it is very funny from beginning to end, and everyone involved are simply great as well.
